How to Dress When You Don’t Feel Like It: Summer Style Tips for Hot Days
Share
I get it. It’s hot, it’s sticky, and as my son likes to say, “This weather makes me nauseous.” It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to live in your birthday suit, every. single. day.
Don’t fear, REMA is here.
Even as a designer who loves to play dress up—most days, I just don’t. Between a growing business, playing house, and dealing with autoimmune issues, the last thing I want to think about is complicated outfits.
But here’s the thing: we still want to feel good when we walk out the door. We still want to feel like ourselves—even if we’re sweating through the the day.
So here are my summer go-to outfits for the days it’s too hot for clothing, and too inappropriate for no clothing.
1. Jeans + Tank Tee (or Claudia Tank)
On days when I want to feel semi-put-together with zero effort, it’s denim + a tank for the win. The Tank Tee has become a staple in my rotation— but and even better summer option is the Claudia Tank- it’s breathable, stretchy, and doesn’t cling where it shouldn’t. Throw on slides, add sunglasses, and you’re good.
2. Anything Airflow
Lightweight, breezy, and intentionally designed for heat waves. Airflow pants or an airflow top paired with your favorite bralette or tank will keep you cool without sacrificing style. It’s the “I’m trying without trying” uniform.
3. Summer Dresses/Sunday Morning Jumper
The easiest hack for hot days? A dress/jumper you can throw on and forget about. No waistband, no layering, no fuss. Dresses/Jumpers are underrated for days you don’t feel like getting dressed because it’s one piece, and you’re done.
4. Lounge Caftans
My ultimate summer lifesaver. Lounge caftans are like wearing air with a hint of style. I'm in them on work-from-home days, they are also great for grocery runs, or even at the beach. It’s a one-and-done look that feels luxurious while keeping you cool.
✨ And good news: We’re releasing new summer colors of our lounge caftans very soon. Because if you’re going to live in something this summer, it might as well be beautiful.
Because Comfort is a Love Language
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you don’t have to compromise comfort for style. You deserve to feel good in your clothes—even on days when you don’t feel like wearing them.
So if you’re tired, hot, overwhelmed, or just over it, remember: it’s okay to keep it simple. A good tank, an airflow piece, a dress, jumper, or a caftan can change how you feel walking out the door by adding sunglasses and a cute statement piece of jewelry or even our favorite bag "The Sash Bag".
Because even when it’s too hot to function, you deserve to feel like you.
Stay cool out there, Rema
